A busy little authentic Japanese restaurant with fresh Japanese food, even the miso soup and the wasabi taste different. Busy with the local Japanese customers which is always a good thing.
Delicious and authentic as promised. No weird old tasting fishy aftertaste unlike many restaurants I go to. Service is polite and friendly without being overbearing. The chef and owner treats his staff well and smiles the whole time. You can tell he enjoys and takes pride in what he does.
Place has decent and fresh sushi. Can get crowded as its a small place here in Burnaby. Coming early helps(opens at 5pm) but make sure you dont park on the South side of Hasting Street as its no parking till 6pm. The North side is fine to park anytime after the morning.
Got there at 5pm Friday. No greeting from any staff member or the sushi chef, Im assuming is the owner, or the lady behind the sushi counter.Ordered the spinach gomaae but it was mediocre at best. Clumps of sesame & sugar coating the spinach leaves, which, by the way, are usually cut. Seaweed salad is just store bought. Vegetable croquette says 4 pieces but really is 2 cut in half. Staff did come by several times to clean off table & fill tea cups.While exiting through the back, literally passed by the sushi counter and got silence from the 2 people behind the counter and the staff. I also saw a couple of whole fish sitting in a bucket in on the way out.Not my usual experience in a Japanese restaurant.
Ordered the deluxe assorted sushi combo. Tasted great. As others have said, fresh wasabi is used. Not sure what is their difference is but the sushi feels more authentic than other places.
