How pleasant it was when I took a walk here on a spring afternoon and then surprisingly I came across so many little new born geese following their mom. It is the habitat for variety of ducks and geese and their babies, and I guess it is also the home for a sand crane because every time being there I can see that crane standing in the lake (I guess the same one?) . It is a really relaxing place that makes you smile. Highly recommend.
Probably it is one of the best places for bird watching and feeding. Even you may have this chance to feed them by your hands. Also very good for fishing although I couldn't caught anything This was our first time we visited this lake and brutally bitted with mosquitoes! That wasn't mosquitoes fault but be careful about them!!
Wonderful place with lots to see and hike as well, be prepared to spend as much time as you can and you will not be disappointed, especially if you are a birder. Last week I was lucky enough to spot a Western Tanager, a few Cedar Waxwings and Red Winged Black Birds, not to mention some other common ones. Will definitely visit again.
Really good place for duck and bird viewing and feeding. There's a loop around the entire lake, and a dam that's pretty interesting on the eastern side of the lake. Watch for duck/goose poop if you decide to come.
I always come here to exercise. It's 9.8 km for one loop around the lake. Such a beautiful around the lake trail. I had run into coyotes, bobcats.... and lots of goose during springtime. There are couple of Big Blue Herons nested at park's NE corner near the dam. The park has different entrances & parking lots, no worry of too busy or crowded. For people enjoy birds, head straight to the Piper Av entrance & within 5 minutes walk you are at the river bank spot with a lot of wings clapping around and singing.
